My Path, My Story

Well, this is challenging. How does one describe oneself to strangers when they are only reading (hopefully!) what is written, without a face-to-face interaction? I'm attaching a fairly recent photo, but that only tells you I'm an older woman (okay, so I officially qualify as "elderly") who has white hair and considers herself blessed.
The most important thing to know about me is that I am a Christian. And I mean that in the Acts 11:26 way; when the followers of Jesus were first referred to as Christians, or “little anointed ones.” That means I don’t just believe the facts about the person called Jesus; every demon from hell believes that. In fact they know him personally. They know who he is, what he has done and is doing, and they know what their own final fate will be at his hands.
(I digress a bit, which may be something else you should know about me. My father was a Baptist minister, and his father was a Methodist minister. I tell people I have “preacher genes,” and when I feel deeply about something, I can be off and running, with or without a microphone.)
Anyway. I am a follower, a disciple of the Lord Jesus Christ. My identity is in him, and it is the desire of my heart to know him better, love him more, live every moment on this earth to magnify him in every way I can, and to make him known to every person I can reach.
So, now you know the purpose of this blog. I’ll leave it there for the time being.
Just a few more words about me – if you’re still with me and care to know. I live in South Florida, in an area known as the Treasure Coast. I work part-time at a local church, although not the one I attend. I am a (long, long ago) divorced mother of one son; grandmother of one granddaughter; great-grandmother of two by birth and three more by virtue of my granddaughter’s blended family. They all live in Ohio, my home state. I am blessed to have my sister and family close by, as well as some very special people God added to my life and who call me “family.” Some of them live near me; some live halfway around the world, serving as missionaries in Central Asia.
I’ve worked in many fields and have served in several churches through the years, primarily as an author and teacher of Bible studies for women and young adults, and leader of prayer and women’s ministries.
That’s it. Nothing splashy or out of the ordinary. Just someone who feels impressed by the Holy Spirit to write down thoughts and beliefs and make them available to whomever might read them. And when I ask myself “why?” (which I do, often) – there is only one reason: to point to the Lord Jesus Christ and to offer encouragement to anyone who might join me on the journey.
